UW Student Killed in Milwaukee Accident

A UW-Madison student was killed in a car crash on New Year’s Eve.

Police are alleging that an 18-year-old stole an SUV, then ran a red light. After running the red light the driver slammed the SUV into the car the student was riding in. The student was scheduled to graduate in May. The UW- Madison community went to the memorial to honor the bright student’s life.

Drunk Driver Kills Two

On New Year’s Day, a drunk driving accident killed two people.

The 18-year-old driver had a blood alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit. He allegedly stole the SUV and sped away from the police. The driver allegedly sped through a stop light at an intersection and slammed into another car. The other car held a 23-year-old and a 21-year-old who were both killed in the accident.The teen faced felony charges.

55 Drunk Drivers Arrested by New Task Force

Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties have combined 11 agencies for a drunk driving task force. They arrested 55 within a 24-hour period.

One woman, among the 55 arrested, drover her car into the lake. She registered a 0.11 on a Breathalyzer. The woman and her passenger were able to escape from the car as it was partially submerged in the lake. No one in the car suffered serious injury.

16-year-old Injured in Collision

A 16-year-old from Oshkosh was injured after the car she was riding in collided with a semitrailer on State Highway 44.

The collision happened when the driver of the car she was riding in, did not see a semitrailer pull out of a parking lot in front of them. Their car hit the semitrailer. She was sent to the hospital and had a broken nose and other non life-threatening injuries.
