Windshield Wipers and Auto Safety

While they may not be as important to your car as the engine, the wheels, the battery, or the transmission, windshield wipers are necessary for the safe operation of your vehicle. You can’t drive safely without a clear view of the road and any obstacles that may be on it, and windshield wipers provide this unobstructed view.

If you or someone you love has been in an accident because of faulty windshield wipers, contact the Milwaukee auto accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® by calling 800-242-2874 today.

Windshield Wiper Safety

Windshield wipers are important to your vehicle’s safety because they remove water, dirt, and other debris from the windshield, allowing you to see the road. Without them, you literally would not be able to see where you are going. Even a relatively small blemish, in the wrong place, can cause a fatal accident.

With that in mind, it’s important to maintain your windshield wipers by doing the following:

Replace your wiper blades when they become worn. The blade is the rubber part of the wiper, the part which does the actual wiping of the windshield. If they wear down, they cannot effectively clean the windshield. Replace yours at the first sign of serious streaking. Blades are sold at most stores that sell basic automotive supplies.

Replace the fluid in your reservoir. Some people prefer using a mix of wiper fluid and water, while others prefer using just water. When you put water into the reservoir, make sure you use distilled water. Other kinds of water may have impurities which can clog your sprayers’ nozzles.

By keeping on top of your windshield wiping system’s maintenance needs, you can ensure that you’ll increase your ability to react to changing road conditions. If your windshield wipers aren’t in good shape, you are gambling with not only your own safety, but the safety of your passengers and everyone else on the road.
