Two semi-trailers and eight cars were involved in a fatal accident in Germantown on Tuesday morning.

According to police officials, the semi-truck accident occurred as the driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car. This collision caused another semi-truck and eight other cars to be involved in a chain reaction crash.

There was a light rain going on at the time of the crash and police are investigating to determine if these weather conditions were a factor in the crash. Two cars became trapped underneath the bed of a semi-trailer and one person in one of these vehicles died as a result. Another person in a trapped vehicle suffered serious injury and five others suffered non-life threatening injury. Traffic was closed in both directions as a result of the crash.
