Alcohol-related crashes rise in Sheboygan County in 2011

Posted on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 at 8:35 pm

The number of fatal accidents in Sheboygan County in 2011 was seven, which is one less then the number in 2006 and also lower than the 5-year average.

Three of the seven crashes in 2011 were alcohol-related and officials are not happy with this ratio because drunk driving can be easily prevented with a designated driver or cab.

Two of the drunk driving crashes resulted in convictions and one case is still pending at this time. One of the accidents was a pedestrian fatality that occurred when a 19-year-old motorcyclist struck a 50-year-old man and drove off.
