Traffic accidents are number one killer of teenagers in Wisconsin

According to the Department of Transportation, traffic accidents are the number one cause of death for teenagers in Wisconsin and across the state. This is why, the governor of Wisconsin has deemed this week, October 16 through October 22, as Teen Driver Safety Week.

The governor is hoping that this week can serve an urgent reminder that teens should be sensible while driving a vehicle. Teen are killed in car crashes four times more than adults are.

In 2010, there were 57 teen fatalities and 6,189 teen deaths from traffic accidents. Officials have said that this is because teens are less experienced, drive more aggressively and tend to not wear their seat belts.
