Possible faulty cable cover causes 1.3 million BMW recall

BMW AG has announced the recall of nearly 1.3 million vehicles after a faulty cable cover was discovered. The recall affects the 5-and-6 series BMW that were made between the years 2003 and 2010.

According to a statement made by the company, the issue could cause a malfunction in the electrical system which may prevent the car from starting and in more severe cases, cause a fire.

The company has sent letters to car owners explaining the issue and asking them to come in to have it checked out. So far, less than 1 percent of cars taken in have had the faulty cover. The recall affects nearly 368,000 cars in the U.S. alone. No injuries have been linked to the defect at this time.
