Study: Fatal accidents occur more often on Tax Day

A study was recently published that analyzed 30 years of data on traffic fatalities that occur on Tax Day and it was determined that the number of crashes increases by 6 percent on this day rather than any other day in April.

According to the study, the number of accidents on Tax Day over the past 30 years is at 6,783, which equals out to 226 each Tax Day. When compared to another day a week after Tax Day, it is at least 6 percent higher.

Other days were studied to be at 213. Officials have suggested that the increase of accidents may be due to the extra stress mounted on drivers that causes more human error as well as possibly racing to the post office in order to make sure that their taxes are mailed off before the deadline.
