Milwaukee deputy killed Tuesday in I-43 collision

A Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy was killed after colliding with a tow truck Tuesday afternoon. He was driving a department truck designed to help disabled vehicles.

According to officials on the case, the accident occurred on I-43 when the southbound police officer ran into the back of a tow truck before coming to a stop next to the median.

The deputy was extricated from the vehicle in order to be transported to the hospital, but he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.The tow truck driver was not injured in the collision.

The southbound lanes of the highway were shut down for nearly four hours while crews cleared the scene.
